Throughout history, in all cultures, music has been an integral part of human life. When young children listen to familiar words in songs, the neural transmitters in their brains are firing away, and their brains are building connections to the sounds they are hearing and the words they are singing. Singing songs and reciting poems and rhymes with children helps them develop early literacy skills. Music encourages the ability to listen and thus to concentrate. Songs encourage speech and auditory discrimination. It also develops the non- scholastic potential of the child.

SIS offers training on vocal and instrumental (Indian and western) and they are trained for various events and activities both in-house and outside.

Dance embodies one of our most primal relationships to the universe. It is pre-verbal, beginning before words can be formed. It is innate in children before they possess command over language and is evoked when thoughts or emotions are too powerful for words to contain. Dance allows children to simultaneously move, think, feel. In no other subject do students learn to express themselves and communicate through movement, a natural means of expression for children. Dance teaches the importance of movement and fitness in a variety of ways through a variety of disciplines.

SIS offers semi classical, folk and western dance to the students.

Creating art expands a child's ability to interact with the world around them, and provides a new set of skills for self-expression and communication. Not only does art help to develop the right side of the brain, it also cultivates important skills that benefit a child's development. But art goes far beyond the tangible statistics measured by studies -- it can become a pivotal mode of uninhibited self-expression and amazement for a child. Art matters the same way language matters -- or the way breathing matters! It is a fundamental component of what makes us uniquely human.

According to Father of Indian Nation M.K.Gandhi

"If wealth is lost nothing is lost"

"If health is lost something is lost"

"If character is lost everything is lost"

Best of all things is character.

The process of learning for a child is not magical. It is important that the student has sound base of strong moral values.Every one knows that life is precious, if life is so important, the values of life are even more important which the are guiding principles, or standards of behaviour which are regarded desirable, important and held in high esteem by a particular society in which a person lives.

A CHINESE PROVERB says "If there is righteousness in the heart, there will be beauty in character, if there is beauty in character, there will be harmony in the home, when there is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation, when there is order in the nation there will be peace in the world".

The Houses names represent the Famous forts of ChatrapatiShivajiMaharaj. They areSinhagad, Raigad, Pratapgad and Torna. From very early on, pupils are encouraged to show responsibility and leadership and to express their views confidently. Student Voice is very important to us and we listen to ideas that pupils have that might help us to improve the running of the school. Students are encouraged to participate in various interhouse competitions and they are rewarded with House Points.
